Old Fashioned Prayer Service!

"........but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him." Acts 12:5

There is something about an 'old fashioned prayer service.' We had one tonight. The spirit was so sweet and the anointing was so real! Heaven came down and glory filled my soul! When the church prays God moves. He came to the rescue when He sent an angel to deliver Peter. It didn't look good for James had already been executed. God, however, stepped in and the chains fell off his hands. Peter walked out of that jail with an angel for a guide! Prayer was made by the church! It works! It really does. Try it!

I've Been Blessed

"And have taught you publicly, and from house to house." Acts 20:20

Down through the years I've known numerous shut-ins. It has been a great joy to visit them. There was the fine lady in upper state New York. She was nearly blind but composed poetry and always shared it with me! She blessed me more than I ever blessed her. Then there was Granny in Eden who was in her 90's. She still drove her own car. She was clear headed and sharp as a tack. What a joy to know her! Her insight and wisdom added so much to my life. It has always been that way! Intending to bless I was blessed. It really works! Try it you'll like it!

Getting to know Him!

"And to know the love of Christ..........." Eph. 3:19

When I was a youngster Harry Truman came to our hometown as a part of his whistle stop campaign. We all went to see him. I knew about him but I didn't know him! I was just one of many in the same boat.

It's just not enough to know about someone we need to know them personally. That's how I feel about Jesus. I grew up in Sunday School memorizing scripture and learning Bible Stories. I knew a lot about Jesus but I just didn't know Him! It wasn't till that wonderful day [May 1, 1960] when at an altar He forgave my sins and made me part of His family! Now I know Him personally and it makes all the difference in the world. You can know him too!

A Lasting Rest

"Come unto me........and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28

If you are like me rest doesn't come easy. I find myself so keyed up I can't settle down. My mind is in a whirl thinking of things to do and places to go. Jesus knew our plight and extends an invitation to come to him. His serenity of spirit and composure in face of life's turmoil is offered us if we will just come!

Come in a moment of surrender and yield Him your all! He can give rest. I'm coming Lord. How about you?!

Sweet Name

"Thou shalt call His name Jesus....." Matt. 1:21

Jesus Oh how sweet the name! Jesus everyday the same. When I am distressed I call His name! When depression takes hold I call His name. When sickness plagues our home I call His name!

No matter the need; no matter the deed there is healing and wholeness in that name! What ever the circumstances you can call on Him. He is always there to help! Call on Him. You'll be glad you did!

Acknowledge Him

"In all thy ways acknowledge Him........." Prov. 3:6

To acknowledge Him is to recognize His capabilities; His adequacies; His sufficiency! The leper knew he was capable of cleansing. He said, "Lord if thou with thou canst make me clean." Jesus said, "I will be thou clean." Nicodemus said, "We know you are a teacher come from God." Jesus said, "Ye must be born again" and Nicodemus was!

I too acknowledge that He can save to the uttermost and He does! I am glad for an 'All Sufficient Savior.'

The Best is yet to come! Part 2

"Behold I make all things new.........." Rev. 21:5

The Best is yet to come! Those very special words grace our weekly bulletin. They are words of great inspiration spoken to me by the Holy Spirit following my triple by-pass surgery. I was experiencing post operative depression but God came to me and lifted my spirit by pointing out He was going to make all things new. A world free of sickness, disease and death! A world free of violence and hostility! A world that is better than everything we can imagine. Thank God the 'Best is yet to come!'

The Best is yet to come!

Behold, I make all things new........." Rev. 21:5

The best is yet to come! That's the theme of our church. We are always expecting something new and fresh from His hand. We are looking for a fresh beginning and a brand new start! A new church year is before us! With God's help we can make it the best ever!

It also begins my 45th year as a Christian. I want it to be my best and it can be with God's help! Our God is just waiting to make everything new.

He's All I Need!

But my God shall supply all your need......." Phil. 4:19

Needs! We all have them whether we realize it or not. The great Methodist missionary E. Stanley Jones declared, "If we say we don't have a need then that's our need."

We need a God who is sufficient and we find Him in Jehovah! We need a redeemer and we find Him in Jesus! We need a guide and we find Him in the Holy Spirit - All our needs are satisfied in the True God!

The Lord is my portion, saith my soul. Every need His hand suplies. I am glad I know where to look to have my needs met!

The Bood

"In that day there shall be a fountain opened.....for sin and uncleanness." Zech.13:1

The song writer said, "There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains".

With the death of Christ on the cross the blood sacrifice was made. A two-fold provision is ours! Every sin of the past is wondrously covered as we seek forgiveness. The guilt and condemnation is lifted as God comes in power to forgive.

Then in a moment of complete consecration the old nature is cleansed enabling us to live a sanctified life. I am glad I've felt the blood applied! You can too!
